St. Charles Singers History

St. Charles Singers, founded in 1984, is a cadre of professional musicians, of which 32 – 38 typically sing in each performance under the direction of Maestro Jeff Hunt. Recognized for sublime interpretation of choral classics, the singers strive for excellence in every performance, sing with passion and demonstrate a sincere desire to create beauty and connect with their audience. The choir’s home venue is Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, Illinois. Performances also occur in and around the city of Chicago, and occasionally the choir travels nationally and internationally.

The choir’s discography includes our most recent CD releases, American Reflections and Bushes and Briars (MSR); holiday music CDs Christmas in St. Charles and From Out of a Wood; American Songs (Naxos), and I Know Where I’m Going (Proteus)

In 2022, St. Charles Singers concluded its Mozart Journey, a musically challenging undertaking of 17 concerts over 12 years, through which Mozart’s sacred choral compositions were performed and recorded. To our knowledge no American choir has previously performed and recorded this volume of music as the complete, known genre. The choir is committed to making this 18th-century music readily available to a 21st-century audience through this historic undertaking.

St Charles Singers is a 501 (c) (3), nonprofit organization. Educational outreach includes awarding higher education scholarships, invitations to high school choral groups to serve as concert assistants, and the annual Sing! Workshop for Teens. We include these initiatives to act on our mission and vision to inspire diverse audiences regionally, nationally, and internationally.

We appreciate our audience as a part of our music family and thank you for your support.
