
Jeffrey Hunt is founder and director of the St. Charles Singers, a professional chamber choir with its home in St. Charles, IL. The singers regularly perform in St. Charles and in many venues in the Chicago area including St. Michael Church in Wheaton, and at St. Patrick Church, Holy Family and Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Other conductors who have worked with the ensemble include John Rutter, Timothy Brown, Robert Hansen, Rossen Milavov, Jeannette Sorrell and James Conlon. The choir has three commercial recordings. Christmas in St. Charles and I know where I’m going are both on the Proteus label. Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs book one and two arranged for choir were performed with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and available on the Naxos label of American Classics. The St. Charles Singers have commissions from several composers including George Shearing, Charles Forsberg, Gyula Fekete, Robert Boyd and Nathanial Adams. The choir has made several European tours performing in notable venues in both France and England. The choir has given performances at ACDA regional and state conventions. In 2010, Jeff, the choir and the Metropolis Chamber Orchestra began a journey of performing all of W.A. Mozart’s sacred music over a period of several years.
In addition, Jeff is Director of Music at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles where he leads a very active music program. Jeff is also an adjunct faculty member at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois. Jeff is a board member of the Illinois Chapter of ACDA where he serves as chair of Music and Worship. Jeff enjoys the opportunity of working with young people at all levels of music making maintaining a voice studio and working with choirs.
Jeffrey received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Taylor University, Upland, Indiana and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He is Director of Music at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles where he has served since 1986.
