2007 Annual Gala
Braving torrential rains and wind the members and guests of the St Charles Singers Circle enjoyed an evening together at the St Charles Country Club on August 23, 2007.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were served as guests enjoyed some light cafe jazz from the combo. As dinner progressed a short musical selection was provided by some members of the Educational Outreach program. Melinda Hinners Waldie introduced one of the 2007 recipients of the R. Gordon Hinners Scholarship, Melanie Carlson of Kaneland High School who attended the Gala with her mother, Heather. Melanie shared about her dreams of studying music education at the University of Illinois starting in January 2008. Jeff Hunt, director of the choir, announced the 2007-2008 season and the introduction of an additional venue for all three concerts at St Michael Church, Wheaton. Jay Cunningham, tenor and board member presented the mission and vision of the choir and spoke to the needs of the choir while thanking all of the Circle members for their generous support and encouragement. The evening was completed by a short video concering the history of the choir produced by Jennifer Hunt.
The Board of Directors of St Charles Singers offers sincere THANKS to all members of the Circle for their support through the years. Their partipation and financial support is vital to the ongoing mission of the choir.
