Sing! Is a choral workshop designed for students who have finished the 8th grade through 19 years of age, interested in the art of small ensemble singing.
Wonderful nuance, subtle dynamic changes, impeccable intonation, satisfying blend and slight shifts in vocal color are all elements choristers love to experience in choirs of all sizes. You will have an opportunity to explore these qualities and more with some of the most experienced and talented chamber
singers around.
Singers will be placed in small ensembles of approximately eight singers where you will prepare three selections for performance. Selections will be eclectic, covering a variety of musical styles.
Your day will focus on vocal technique and listening skills imperative to good ensemble singing. As part of the six-hour experience you will have the opportunity of working closely with several faculty members so concepts, ideas and valuable insights will be abundant. All interested singers will have the opportunity of having a brief coaching session with one of our professionals as well.
All four ensembles will join together in singing two combined selections conducted by Robert Boyd. The workshop will culminate with a concert where the faculty, all ensembles, the mass choir and several of the coached soloists will perform.
