Michael Popplewell
Baritone
This is Michael's third year with SCS. He is a native of Rochester, New York where he says that the best food in town is at Nick Tahou's restaurant. It's called the "Garbage Plate". A Garbage Plate is a disorganized combination of two selections out of (cheeseburger, hamburger, steak, hotdogs, white hots, italian sausage, chicken, fish, fried ham, grilled cheese, or eggs), which are placed on top of a choice of two out of four sides (homefries, french fries, baked beans, or macaroni salad). On top of that you get the options of mustard and onions and the signature ingredient: Nick's "hot sauce" - a greasy spiced sauce containing ground meat. The garbage plate also comes with a side of starchy white Italian-style bread and butter. Now you know.
Mike graduated from the State University of New York-Geneseo with a B.A. in vocal performance. He also holds an M.M in Music Education from Ithaca College. He currently is the choir director at Elmwood Park, Illinois High School and choir director at Geneva United Methodist Church, Geneva, Illinois.
Mike admits that he is a country music fan. He is happily married to Julie and they have two beautiful daughters, Leah and Melanie. In his spare time Mike enjoys biking and spending time with family and participating in charity events. Mike is captain for the St Charles Singers Bike Team participating in the MS 150 Event this June to help raise funds to fight Multiple Sclerosis.
